Rest in peace, Max von Sydow (1929-2020).

From his work with Ingmar Bergman to Star Wars, few actors have had a career as diverse and long-standing as Max von Sydow.

Rest easy, Max. You had a great run.

Through a Glass Darkly (1961) dir. Ingmar Bergman

Det sjunde inseglet (Ingmar Bergman, 1957)

Just heard he died yesterday at 90 years old. He was one of the greats of the golden age of arthouse in the 50s and 60s. His most regarded performances are in Ingmar Bergman’s films, but I admit I loved his campy turn as Ming the Merciless in Flash Gordon and his performance as the cerebral, quiet framed man turned murderer in the suspense-thriller The Night Visitor.

Rest well.

Rest in peace and endless harmony to the great Max von Sydow.

This will begin to make things right.
